The Aquaponics Farm

A working farm planned for the heart of the campus — to feed the academy, the hotel and partner schools across Nairobi.

The aquaponics and organic farm is part of the proposed FC Nairobi Youth Academy’s commitment to the highest levels of sustainability. Planned as a closed-loop production farm and a living classroom, it will sit within the leadership and landscape estate — the layer that gives the campus a distinctly East African identity.

Aquaponics

A closed-loop food system

Tilapia ponds feed nutrient-rich water through hydroponic grow beds of leafy greens, herbs and tomatoes — a closed-loop system that uses up to 90 per cent less water than conventional agriculture, producing fresh vegetables and fish for the academy kitchen and hotel restaurants year-round.

Organic Plots

Open-air vegetable beds and greenhouses

Open-air organic vegetable beds and a greenhouse range complement the aquaponics system — maize, beans, kale, indigenous vegetables and seasonal produce — supported by composting and worm farms that close the campus waste loop.

Education

A living classroom

Academy players, visiting schools and community groups learn here. Nutrition science, food security, climate-smart agriculture and the journey from soil to plate are part of every academy player’s curriculum.

Community

Beyond the campus gates

Surplus produce is donated to partner schools and feeding programmes across Nairobi — turning the farm into a direct community-impact engine and tying the academy’s mission to the city that raises its players.
